Taking place after a three-year time skip, the series will follow Shindou Kurono, Kiba Shion, and Anjou Tokoha as the new protagonists of G.
Kurono uses the never-before-seen clan Gear Chronicle, which brings together the destinies of these three toward an "impossible future, an impossible self signifying 'Generation.'"

EP1 - Episode 1
It's a new generation for Vanguard and at the head of the pack is Chrono Shindou, a misunderstood middle school student with a boring life until he finds a Vanguard deck in his cubbyhole one day. Chrono takes the deck to Card Capital 2, where part-time worker(!) and high school student Kamui shows him the ropes. But Kamui and the other customers are amazed because nobody has ever seen Chrono's clan before. Enter: Gear Chronicle!

EP2 - Episode 2
Kamui introduces Chrono to the latest Vanguard tech, including a quest system that can improve a fighter's grade. Kamui accompanies Chrono on his first quest, to help a kid find his lost Vanguard card, but they have rivals, the annoying and tricky but strong Team Trinity Dragon!

EP3 - Episode 3
Chrono picks a random quest to fight someone and goes to meet them at the Vanguard Colosseum, which employs the latest technology to make Vanguard fights more realistic than ever before. But Chrono's opponent turns out to be Kouji Ibuki, a cold-hearted pro who sees right through him.

EP4 - Episode 4
When Chrono takes on a quest that has him trying to coax his way into an elderly woman's home, he's upstaged by fellow Vanguard fighter Shion Kiba. This leads to a match between them at Card Capital 2, but will Chrono be able to take Kamui's advice and evolve enough to beat this tough opponent?

Everyone is talking about the mysterious Gear Chronicle deck, possessed by only one person... who is currently suffering from a major toothache, but rather than going to the dentist, Chrono heads to Card Capital to fight a classmate, a beginner who's been coached by Tokoha, the girl destined to become Chrono's rival!

Chrono goes to the local Dragon Empire Branch for an event and registers for a chance to fight the Kagero clan leader, Mamoru Anjou... but he's sidetracked by Vangarou, the Vanguard Association's official mascot. Vangarou demands a fight with Chrono, currently the only known possessor of the mysterious Gear Chronicle deck, but the jolly-looking costumed character has a VIP inside!

Shion wants revenge after losing to Chrono, but he'll get his chance in an unexpected way: the Vanguard Quiz Tournament, an event that pits Vanguard Cardfighters against each other in games that test their knowledge, ingenuity, and fortitude!

Nagisa returns, three years older than the last time we saw her, but none the wiser as she demands to fight Kamui with the usual high stakes of marriage! When Kamui chooses flight over Cardfight, though, Nagisa puts a bounty (via quest) on his head and even convinces Chrono to help track down her man.

When Tokoha was young, she and an older friend, Akane, buried a time capsule. Now Akane is going to move abroad and the time capsule has been unearthed. Will Vanguard be able to help these two old friends gain a sense of closure and open a path to the future?

This week's quest has Chrono meeting Jaime, a Spaniard who says he wants to see Japanese-style Vanguard firsthand, but then he drags Chrono all over town in a series of misadventures that may or may not have anything to do with Vanguard.

Chrono is inspired to become stronger when he watches Jaime and Mamoru fight at the interleague tournament. Later, he accompanies Jaime to an orphanage, and realizes he has more in common than he thought with his Spanish friend. The Dragon Empire Branch is holding a festival, and the already-overworked Mamoru has been put in charge, so he delegates a bit to his kid sister, Tokoha, who is tasked with coming up with a festival activity. Chrono is brought into the fold kicking and screaming, but comes up with a plan that may make the whole festival successful. Plus: Mamoru in three simultaneous Vanguard fights against our protagonists!

Tokoha feels down after everyone sees her only as Mamoru's little sister. Making matters worse, her favorite baked treat is constantly sold out. When she learns that Chrono has been beating her to the punch every day, Tokoha challenges him to a Vanguard match, with a bag of croquette bread on the line.

Chrono, Tokoha, and Shion take on a quest to help a shy Cardfighter who fell in love at first sight with a girl he fought a match with once but never saw again. Can the quarrelsome trio use their resources and wits to track the girl down when they've got nothing to go on except a single card she left behind?

Kamui lends Chrono a DVD, Earth Defense Organization Caesar, which stars Team Caesar as a global defense force against invading giant monsters from space. What will lone wolf Chrono think of this team-centered story... and what does it have to do with Vanguard?

The regional tournament is coming up, but the only way Chrono can participate is by forming a team of three people. Kamui steps in, signing up Chrono, Shion, and Tokoha together. The problem is, they don't get along at all...

Team Still Undecided participates in a mini-tournament so Chrono can earn the points he needs to go up to grade 3, the minimum requirement for participation in the upcoming regional tournament. Team TRY3 has moved past the early rounds of the local tournament. Things start to get serious when Chrono goes up against Kariya of Demise, a team that has plenty of bad attitude and was specially-trained by the United Sanctuary branch.

After Chrono's win, their second match with Team Demise pits Tokoha against the nasty Rin Hashima, who has an old grudge against Mamoru. During the fight, Rin exploits Tokoha's weakness, getting under her skin by calling her Mamoru's little sister.

Shion has the tie-breaking match between Team TRY3 and Team Demise, but it's an uphill battle as his opponent seems to know everything about Shion, including the attacks he's going to make.

Chrono and Tokoha are still reeling from Shion's sudden announcement that he's quitting Vanguard. They do everything they can to persuade him to do otherwise, but Shion won't budge. Chrono finally resorts to one last desperate gambit to keep TRY3 together.

Chrono, Tokoha, and Shion get complimentary passes to Vanguard idol Saya Yatomi's concert, but the TRY3 members end up with more than they bargain for, somehow getting dragged into working as security, wardrobe troubleshooters, and even becoming part of the show!

Shion is fired up about having another crack at Team Demise at an upcoming United Sanctuary tournament, but Chrono is shaken by his aunt's revelation that his long-deceased father was a Vanguard fighter... and who apparently died because of it, so she forbids Chrono from ever playing again!

Chrono, Tokoha, and Shion participate in the United Sanctuary Branch tournament, but something seems off from the get-go.
